A Crimson Tide wanna-be set on a Soviet ship

Based on a real-life story, this one had me totally confused at its open because all of the Soviets on the sub spoke with American accents. The only person in this movie set in Russia with an accent has just a line or two at the end.

Ed Harris stars as a Soviet captain ,tortured by his past, as he’s forced into one more mission. William Fictner is his right-hand man. David Ducovny is one of two KGB agents who are intent on launching a nuclear war.

Despite the hour-and-a-half running time, it felt almost twice as long. It was mostly a drag, despite the always fine acting by Harris. And the end was just plain hokey.
